Red Cunt

Availabe until March 31, 2023! A film about menstruation? A topic that is still taboo. The Hamburg-based editor and filmmaker Toti Baches (* 1972), who was born in Catalonia, processes the female menstruation in a loosely structured form in her third documentary after "Schmuck der Straße" (2011) and "Den Himmel touch" (2017). Baches mixes forms of live action such as interviews with artists and project portraits of activists with playful animations with the blood creature »Mensi«. "Red Cunt", which was partly shot in Hamburg, takes time for its protagonists. In simple images that never become voyeuristic or pornographic, the film reduces the shame in dealing with the sensitive topic. Finally, "Red Cunt" answers central questions about menstruation and constructs the thought experiment of what a world would look like in which men also bleed. - "Red Cunt" is part 1 of a trilogy about the taboo three "M's" of women: menstruation, masturbation and menopause. After "Red Cunt - reconsiderung periods" about menstruation, "Hot Cunt - reconsidering pleasure" about the menstruation female masturbation, the trilogy is completed with "Silver Cunt" on the consequences of menopause.
